Trump Vows to Use Veto Power to Block All Legislation If Democrats Win Control of Congress

U.S. President Donald Trump warns the country will be finished if Democrats win control of Congress and the White House in 2028.

U.S. President Donald Trump has firmly vowed to transform himself into "Mr. Veto" to block and reject any legislation drafted by Democrats should the opposition party win control of the U.S. Congress in Tuesday’s midterm elections on November 3.

In an exclusive interview with the New York Post on November 2, Trump expressed confidence, stating: "I think we're going to do very well. But even if we don't, I’ll veto everything. I'll use the veto power—veto, veto, and veto." The leader jokingly added: "I guess I’ll just become Mr. Veto, and then at some point, maybe we can work out a deal."

Nevertheless, Trump expressed strong confidence in the Republican Party's chances of success, despite most public opinion polls showing Democrats holding the upper hand.

The U.S. leader swiftly dismissed those poll results as rigged, claiming that polling institutions fail to contact real voters. He pointed to the massive crowds of tens of thousands attending his campaign rallies as proof of genuine public support.

At the same time, Trump raised concerns and issued a stern warning that if the Democratic Party wins control of both houses of Congress (the Senate and the House of Representatives) and goes on to win the presidency in 2028, the country will be "completely finished."

He accused Democrats of having a secret plan to expand the Supreme Court to 23 seats, eliminate the Senate filibuster, and restrict citizens' constitutional right to bear arms.

It is worth noting that under the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, a person can only serve two terms as president. Therefore, this is Trump's final term, and he is ineligible to run in the upcoming 2028 election.

This reality has prompted Trump to carefully craft a strategy to position his close allies—Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio—to prepare to lead the party, ensuring that his MAGA (Make America Great Again) political movement retains power in the White House for future terms.
