Poland Declares It Has Run Out of Capacity to Supply Patriot Missiles to Ukraine, Urges NATO to Step In

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski says Warsaw cannot provide Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine due to a lack of resources.

Globdot reporting

As Ukraine faces heavy Russian missile strikes and continues to call on its allies for support, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated on Wednesday, October 21, that Poland cannot supply Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine due to a lack of resources. However, he added that other NATO members possess these missiles and can send them to Ukraine.

In an interview with the Polish press agency PAP, Sikorski said: "There are several NATO countries that still have such resources to support, but Poland is not one of them."

He reiterated that the shortage of interceptor missiles has worsened following the attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel in February.

Sikorski added that Russia is producing missiles in larger quantities than the interceptor systems that Ukraine and its allies use to defend against or destroy them. Poland supports Ukraine to the best of its ability, but in this case, it can only join in calling on countries with Patriot missiles to share them with Ukraine.

He further noted that despite ongoing assistance, the issue of allocating frozen Russian assets to Ukraine will inevitably be brought up for discussion again at some point. However, Poland does not expect any agreement to be reached before winter.
